Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of complementary therapy that has been used in China for over 3000 years. It has been embraced today across the world and is used to treat a variety of issues including insomnia and pain management.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine sterilised needles through the skin at specific points known as acupuncture points. They are inserted with the intention of positively affecting a patient’s clinical condition or health status, and is one of the key components of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The best-known application of acupuncture is for the management of pain where it can:

  • Release our body’s natural pain killers
  • Decrease inflammation and swelling
  • Relax muscles and stop spasms
  • Increase circulation of blood to an injured area
